Markay Oil softball was created by former Maloneys Pub team mates Frank Mottola and Bryan McCarty in 1998. Markay Oil softball is a proud division of the Markay Oil Company, which is run out of Meriden, CT. The team has been a photo copy of the company's success. Through hard work, desire, leadership, and a family atmosphere the team has emerged as one of MASA's more competitive teams.
On January 2nd 2004 the Markay Oil Softball community was hit with the news that outfielder Chris McCarty has been called to serve our country. With the news the team gathered to show its support for Chris. Chris has been a solid team player his whole career. He has done what it takes to make the team better by playing several positions including RF, 2B, C, and EH. He has also contributed by keeping the books, coaching bases, and stepping in as coach when needed."He will not be in the lineup but will be on our minds and in our hearts," Coach MCarty said.

Markay Oil wins 2003 C-1 Championship!
08/13/03
Markay oil wins its second straight championship with a 6-4 win over Arescos in the 3rd game of the series. Arescos began the game with an early 3-0 lead on 2 Oil errors in the first inning. Hits were hard to come by after that inning as the oil shut down Arescos for 7 of the last 8 innings allowing only one run in the 5th. The big red machine was just as slow with the bats, scoring one run in the 2nd inning and 3 in the 3rd. The go ahead run and game winner was a 2 out triple by Bryan McCarty which scored runners Jeff Gagne & Mike Cerrone. The real hero of that inning may be Jeff Gagne. Kevin Weber started the inning with a single and Gary Gardner then grounded into a double play. Mike Cerrone got to first with a 2 out error when Jeff Gagne came to the plate. With the game in the balance "Chops" punched a ball to 3rd base. With the ball fielded cleanly "Chops" hustled down the line to beat the throw. This brought Bryan McCarty to the plate, and the rest is history.
Softball Meeting Scheduled
The annual preseason softball meeting will be held at Coach McCarty's house on February 7th 2004 at 7pm. Attendance is not mandatory but strongly advised,as it will mainly deal with forcasting the season and scheduling.
